韩薇：助力中国企业出海，国际视野帮她在职场开疆拓土_宁波诺丁汉大学

10月，刚刚入职谷歌北京两个月的韩薇，已经跟手头上几位头部互联网企业客户做完了上一季度的复盘，正积极投入到下一季度的业务计划中。她戏谑自己是一个闲不住的主，这种在每个时期都秉持着积极努力的优质惯性，若追根溯源，母校宁波诺丁汉大学对韩薇影响最为深远。

宁诺拓展了她的国际视野

2014年高考结束后，分数高出一本线不少的韩薇义无反顾地选择了宁诺的国际传播学。

“每个人都会有一个执着的梦想，当初我想出去看看，扩展自己的认知和视野。”

韩薇说，那时的综合考虑，她觉得宁诺是解锁这个梦想的最适合钥匙，事实证明，她的抉择是正确的。

宁诺采用了英国诺丁汉大学教学质量保障体系、共享英国诺丁汉大学网络和教学资源。入学后，韩薇真正感受到了英式教学的模式，在宁诺的学习经历，为她日后求学、工作打下了扎实的语言基础，更是全面锻炼了她的个人能力。

韩薇大三时，作为交换生求学英国诺丁汉大学，进一步拓展了她国际化视野，“既然有了广阔的平台，自己更加要努力，无论是学业还是实习都是对自己最好的提升。”韩薇说。

宁诺校友会是像灯塔一样的存在

“申研时，在几个offer面前，我选择了英国伦敦大学学院。初到异国他乡，肯定比较懵，而宁诺在英国的校友会真的对我帮助挺大。”韩薇说，这些学长学姐一般都已经在英国工作若干年了，他们会以自身的求职经历和心得给学弟学妹们做参考。韩薇也正是受到校友会一位学姐经历的启发，开始考虑跨专业求职。

韩薇就读的专业中，不少毕业学子会去国内媒体单位或大型企划类公司，但有个跟韩薇就读相关专业的学姐，她建议韩薇无须局限于专科背景公司，可以尝试跨界找工作。

最后也是学姐的推荐，韩薇进入了英国美妆电商独角兽公司The Hut Group。通过自己的努力，韩薇还未毕业便开始了她的职业生涯。

任何时候都需怀揣执着之心

一个文科背景出身的学生，在英国的电商企业工作，似乎每个关键词都不太搭，可是只要你够努力，一切也没这么困难。

韩薇说，初入公司，只有自己的母语是中文，其他同组同事的母语都是英文，看上去起跑线就矮了一截，但她从不灰心，认真做好手头的工作，“以前在宁诺学习过多种数据分析工具，国际传播专业要求学生大量阅读，这为我学习和分析新事物的能力打下基础。国际化的学习环境，也帮助我很快融入了跨文化的工作氛围。”韩薇迅速适应了海外电商的工作节奏。

机会一直青睐有准备的人。每周一的工作会议上，都需要提交一份回顾报表，是熟悉公司业务的好机会，于是，韩薇主动揽下了这份制表，“压力肯定有，但我之前已经看过了其他人的制图案例，而且对公司的业务也有所了解，所以有备而战也还可以！”韩薇调皮地回忆道。当然，2年后，她成了他们之中最快升职的人员，她的销售业绩也让公司领导十分赞许。

就在一路顺风顺水时，韩薇却决定回国了。带着想为祖国事业而努力的热忱，和在国际舞台学习工作的经历，果不其然，韩薇回国投了几份简历，都抛来了橄榄枝。她最终选择了谷歌，入职谷歌的国际拓展客户经理，负责国内头部互联网企业的出海业务。

为何选这份职业呢？她说，自己还有点小小的英雄主义情结，希望通过自己的努力，把国内的好产品推广全球，为中国的优质企业贡献一点点的力量。

From UNNC to Google - Wei Han’s journey to success

Having joined Google for two months, Wei Han, an alumna of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), has actively engaged in the business plan for the last quarter of the year. Wei jokes that she’s not someone who likes to be idle, and always maintains a positive attitude in every task. This hard-working mentality stems from her time at UNNC.

After Gaokao, Wei chose to take International Communications at UNNC, considering it a key to unlocking her dream of broadening her sight. The undergraduate experience was just as she thought - UNNC allowed her to receive a British-style education, giving her a solid foundation for study and work abroad in the future.

In Year three, Wei studied abroad in UoN as an exchange student, which broadened her international vision. “Whether it was through academia or internships, I had plenty of ways to further improve myself,” she said.

In Wei’s choice of her further study and career, alumni connections helped her navigate her path - senior alumni would share their job-hunting experiences in the UK with the new students. “When I first arrived in the UK, it took me a while to fit in, but the UNNC alumni in the UK really helped me out a lot”, she said. Following their advice, she looked for work beyond her own degree, and ultimately found a job at The Hut Group, a British beauty e-commerce company.

When Wei entered the company, she was the only non-native English speaker, but she was never discouraged. “I learned a variety of data analysis tools while studying at UNNC, and the course International Communications requires students to do massive reading, which lays a foundation for my ability to learn and analyse new things. The international learning environment also helped me integrate into the cross-cultural working atmosphere,” she quickly strived to adapt to the overseas working style.

Opportunities always favour the prepared mind. Wei recalls when she first joined her company, she took the initiative over the weekly report writing proactively - “there was a lot of pressure at first. But after observing other cases and getting familiar with the company rules, I found I was confident enough to get the job done!” Within two years, she became the fastest promoted employee among her batch, with her sales performance commended by the company.

Wei eventually decided to return to China and take on the role of international account manager at Google, responsible for the overseas business of leading domestic internet companies. She hopes to promote Chinese products through this position and make her own contribution to the development of China’s enterprises on the global stage.
