尊敬的各位来宾，各位家长，老师们，同学们：

Honorable guests, family members, teachers, our dear graduates,

大家晚上好！

Good evening!

时光飞逝，又是一年毕业季。由于受疫情影响，今天我们在这里以精简而庄重的方式举行2021届学生毕业典礼，共同见证同学们开启新的人生征程。在此，我代表学校向来自国内外20个国家的4549名本科和研究生毕业生表示热烈的祝贺！向多年来为你们成长成才付出辛勤劳动的教职员工、学生家长表示衷心的感谢！向长期关心支持学校发展的广大校友、社会各界朋友表示崇高的敬意！

How time flies! Here comes another graduation season. Due to the impact of the epidemic, today, we gather together to hold the graduation ceremony for the class of 2021 in a simple and solemn way. We are here to witness the start of a new life journey for our students. Firstly, on behalf of ZUST, I would like to extend warm congratulations to 4549 undergraduates and graduate students from 20 countries! Sincere thanks also go to the parents and teachers who have worked hard for the students over the years. I would also like to pay high tribute to the alumni and friends from all walks of life for your continuous support.

同学们，在浙科求学的几年，你们与祖国同行，经历了多个重要的历史性节点，你们目睹了国家改革开放40周年和新中国成立70周年的繁景盛况，经受了抗击新冠肺炎疫情的历史大考，见证了我国脱贫攻坚战的全面胜利，在你们毕业之际，又将迎来中国共产党百年华诞。

Dear students, over the past years at ZUST, together with our motherland, you have experienced many important historical moments. You have participated in the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the national reform and opening up and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China; you have stood the unprecedented test of COVID-19; and you have witnessed the complete victory of China’s poverty alleviation efforts. Now on your graduation, we are about to celebrate the centenary of the Communist Party of China.

在浙科求学的几年，你们与学校共进步，亲历了学校事业快速发展的新阶段，见证了学校高水平建设社会主义浙江科技大学的新进程。在浙科的一千多个日日夜夜，你们践行“崇德、尚用、求真、创新”的校训，学习知识，锤炼品格，提升能力，以努力造就实力，以刻苦成就梦想，展现了积极进取、奋发向上的青春风采和精神风貌。

The past few years have seen the progress of both you and ZUST as the university enters a new stage of rapid development towards the aim of a high-quality socialist university. Over the past thousand days and nights, bearing in mind the university motto of “Virtue and Truth, Creativity and Practicality”，you have acquired knowledge, built your moral character, improved your ability, and worked hard to achieve your dreams, showing the inspiring and enterprising spirit of youth.

你们追求卓越，王燕娟、孙志超等11名同学获卓越学子奖学金，王高坚、洪飘飘等183名同学被评为省级优秀毕业生，马丹峰、李杨杨等432名同学被评为校级优秀毕业生。你们志存高远，陈子轩、马晓锋、陈宇坤、倪陈依等530多位同学，即将赴浙江大学、中国科学院大学、德国慕尼黑大学、美国约翰霍普金斯大学等国内外名校攻读硕士、博士学位。你们矢志创新、勇于创业，严一展、余婉婷等2021届同学累计获得国际、国家级奖项320余项，省级奖项650余项，获得授权发明专利等各类专利80余项。周涛涛、伊萨克奥伊（Isaac Okyere）等51名同学自主创业。你们甘于奉献，疫情爆发初期，李欢峰、周倩荔、米莱（Tungamirai Eric Mupona）等1200多名2021届同学积极投身学校、医院、社区防疫志愿服务，成为浙科“最美逆行者”。刘建彤、邱玉琪等70多名同学远赴海外，担任孔子学院教师和对外汉语志愿者；章沈凯、李戴岑等20多位同学报名参加“新疆”“西藏”专招项目选拔，程怡、张成等46名同学报名参加“西部计划”，钟杰平、徐华飞等12名同学报名参军入伍。你们中还有更多的同学将就职于各行各业，以自己的学识和才智，服务社会、报效国家、成就自己。虽然你们选择了不同的发展道路，但你们都收获了属于自己的别样精彩。作为校长，我为你们的成长感到骄傲和自豪，对你们的未来充满憧憬和期待。

You pursue excellence. 11 students, including Wang Yanjuan and Sun Zhichao, have been awarded the Scholarship of Outstanding Student; 183 students, including Wang Gaojian and Hong Piaopiao, have won the honor of Excellent Graduates of Zhejiang Province, and 432 students, including Ma Danfeng and Li Yangyang, have won the honor of Excellent Graduates of ZUST. You aim high. More than 530 students, including Chen Zixuan, Ma Xiaofeng, Chen Yukun and Ni Chenyi, will further their study for master’s and doctoral degrees at Zhejiang University, the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the University of Munich in Germany, Johns Hopkins University in the United States and other prestigious universities at home and abroad. You are committed to innovation and entrepreneurship. Students such as Yan Yizhan, Yu Wanting and others have won more than 320 international and national awards, more than 650 provincial awards and over 80 authorized invention patents. 51 students, including Zhou Taotao and Isaac Okyere, have started their own businesses. You are dedicated and selfless. At the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, more than 1,200 graduating students of 2021, including Li Huanfeng, Zhou Qianli and Tungamirai Eric Mupona, actively devoted themselves to the school, hospital and community volunteer services for epidemic prevention, and became the “heroes in harm’s way” of ZUST. More than 70 students, including Liu Jiantong and Qiu Yuqi, have travelled overseas to serve as teachers at Confucius Institutes and volunteers teaching Chinese as a foreign language; more than 20 students, including Zhang Shenkai and Li Daicen, have applied for the Xinjiang and Tibet recruitment programs; 46 students, including Cheng Yi and Zhang Cheng, have participated in the “West China Plan”, and 12 students, including Zhong Jieping and Xu Huafei, have joined the army. Others of you will enter all walks of life, serving the society and the country and realizing your value with your knowledge and talents. Although you choose different paths, you have all harvested your unique and wonderful life. As the President of ZUST, I feel so gratified and proud of the growth and progress you have achieved! And I’m looking forward to your bright and promising future!

同学们，习近平总书记强调：“一代人有一代人的长征，一代人有一代人的担当”。在实现中华民族伟大复兴的征程中，唯有坚定信念、砥砺奋进，逐梦前行，才能在激扬青春、开拓进取、奉献社会的进程中担负起历史赋予的光荣使命，书写无愧于时代的壮丽篇章。在此，我代表学校向大家提三点希望：

Dear students, President Xi Jinping has stressed that “Each generation has its own long march and its own responsibility”. On the march to achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the only way to carry out the glorious mission given by history and to write a magnificent chapter worthy of the times is to keep faith, strive ahead and follow dreams while fully devote your youth to the development of the society. Here, on behalf of the university, I would like to offer you three suggestions.

一要厚植家国情怀，勇担时代使命。

Firstly, I hope you would uphold our national interests and shoulder the mission of the times.

同学们，前不久，习近平总书记到清华大学考察时指出：“当代中国青年是与新时代同向同行、共同前进的一代，生逢盛世，肩负重任。要肩负历史使命，坚定前进信心，立大志、明大德、成大才、担大任，努力成为堪当民族复兴重任的时代新人”。当今世界正经历百年未有之大变局，希望同学们厚植家国情怀，坚定“四个自信”，扎根祖国大地，自觉把个人追求融入到民族复兴的伟大事业中，担负起新时代青年的责任与使命。

Dear students, recently, when President Xi visited Tsinghua University, he pointed out that “the youth of today’s China is a generation that forges ahead with the new era. They shoulder their historical mission with confidence in their advancement, set great aspirations, understand great virtues, become great talents, and strive to become new generation of the times who can undertake the heavy responsibility of national rejuvenation.” Now that the world is undergoing the greatest change in a century, I hope that you could uphold our national interests, firmly build the “the Four-sphere Confidence”—confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, take root in your motherland, consciously integrate your personal pursuit into the great cause of national rejuvenation, and take up the responsibility and mission of youth in the new era.

二要秉承科学精神，勇于创新创业。

Secondly, I hope you would embrace the scientific spirit and dare to make innovations and start businesses.

同学们，当今世界知识更新不断加快，科技发展日新月异。科技创新日益成为世界各国博弈的主战场，围绕科技制高点的竞争空前激烈。党的十九届五中全会，把坚持创新摆在我国现代化建设全局中的核心地位，我国“十四五”对创新驱动实现高质量发展提出了更为迫切的要求。面向未来，希望同学们秉承科学精神，坚持在“四个面向”中不断开拓进取，勇于探索，在创新创业中服务社会。

Dear students, today’s world is witnessing an ever accelerating update of knowledge and the fast-changing development of science and technology. Scientific and technological innovation has increasingly become the main battlefield of the game among all countries around the world, and the competition of capturing the scientific and technological high ground is unprecedentedly fierce. The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee has placed innovation at the core of China’s modernization. China’s 14th Five-Year Plan has put forward more urgent requirements for achieving high quality development through innovation-driven strategy. Facing the future, I hope you will advocate the spirit of science, target the global sci-tech frontiers, serve the main economic battlefields, strive to fulfill the significant needs of the country and benefit people’s lives and health. You are expected to keep forging ahead, dare to explore, and serve the society with innovation and entrepreneurship.

三要锤炼意志品格，追求美好人生。

Thirdly, I hope you would toughen your minds and build your noble character to pursue a splendid life.

同学们，每当我们经过校园西蜜湖南岸，就会看到“奋斗石”上刻着的八个大字：“青春是用来奋斗的”。青春是人生最美好的时光，是人生最激昂的乐章。美好生活要通过奋斗才能拥有，不能在本该奋斗的年龄贪图安逸，更不能遇到一点困难挫折就借口“躺平”。人生道路不可能一帆风顺，今后无论遇到什么样的困难和挫折，希望你们以坚强的意志品格，在奋斗中攻坚克难，在奋进中成就美好人生。

Dear students, when we walk along the south bank of Ximi Lake on campus, we can see the big characters engraved on the Fighting Stone: “Youth means unremitting efforts.” Youth is the best time in life and the most passionate chapter in life. A good life can only be owned through persistent striving. You should never hanker after an easy and comfortable life at the age when you’re supposed to work hard; nor can you “lie flat”, or be a couch potato, once you encounter any difficulty. The path of life is not always smooth. No matter what difficulties and setbacks you may encounter in the future, I hope you will fight against them bravely and embrace a better life in the endeavor.

同学们，聚散有时，未来可期。看着你们即将离校，我们依依不舍；看到你们整装待发，我们满怀期待。从今天开始，你们将以浙科校友的身份，拉开人生新的序幕，希望你们每个人都能成为最好的自己，每条路都能走出别样的精彩。也希望你们今后不管身在何方，常回学校看看，浙江科技学院永远是你们温馨的港湾！

Dear students, we meet and part; we expect a promising future together. Seeing you are about to leave, we feel sad, but we are full of expectations. From today on, you will start a new life as alumni of ZUST. I hope each of you can become the best person you can be, and no matter which road you take, you can display the brilliance of your own. I also hope that wherever you are in the future, you can often come back to visit our university. ZUST will always be your warm hearth!

最后，衷心祝愿全体毕业生工作顺利、生活幸福、前程似锦！谢谢！
