西交利物浦大学2020届毕业典礼

学生代表致辞——戴雨欣

各位老师、家长、同学：

早上好！我是应用数学专业的戴雨欣。很荣幸作为学生代表参加这次毕业典礼。西浦不仅带给我了无数的荣耀，同时这几日来一想到今天的致辞就让我感到紧张而成功的瘦了几斤。

首先，我要感谢学校在这个特殊情况下为我们筹备毕业典礼。因为疫情原因，我们在利物浦大学的线下毕业典礼取消了，让我感到很可惜。因此，让我们珍惜这次机会并且为我们在西浦的日子画上完美的句号。

我仍然记得四年前刚到基础楼的日子，我发现我们学校没有围墙甚至没有大门。这颠覆了我对国内传统大学的印象。那时候，我们学校只有北校区，不到两年的时间，我见证了南校区的兴起以及我们系也不断变好，变得更加生机勃勃，这都要感谢在座各位的努力。

我们的学校在不断地变化，我们也一样。四年来最大的变化就是我已经开始掉头发了！当然，脱发是数学系学生的标准特征，希望我们在座的各位最后不要变成光头。

当我踏进数学系的大门时，我的大学生活就与洛必达、泰勒、柯西分不开了。

回顾过去，我怀念早起去图书馆抢位子的时光，怀念数学分析考试前夜拼搏的时光。这种独特拼搏的学习氛围也证明了西浦学生的努力。然而，我更怀念的是，A03楼下男生送女朋友回宿舍依依不舍的目光，上课前去喜士多买土司，去85°C买早餐的日子，以及完成DDL后去文萃吃夜宵的日子。这些都是我无法忘记的美好时光。

两年后，我们一部分学生选择去利物浦读书。来到利物浦后我发现，这里的风更大了，让原本头发稀少发际线高的我们掉发速度更快了！当然，在国外学习的期间，我也学到了更多的知识，了解了更多当地的文化。

时光荏苒，四年时间过去了，我们都成长了很多。不仅仅是年龄的增长，我们更多的是学会了专业知识、增加了人际交往的能力和独立思考的能力。就像校训所说“博学明道，笃行任事”，学习使人明道，教育帮人铸翅，西浦帮助学子展翅追梦。因此，希望毕业以后我们也能继承和弘扬这份精神。

亲爱的毕业生们，四年前，我们选择来西交利物浦大学是个正确的选择，我们收获了友谊，在彼此的鼓励陪伴下，大学生活不再孤单。如今四年已过，我确信我们已拥有信心、勇气和能力来面对未来的机遇和挑战。不论未来你我去到哪里，选择什么工作，我都真诚地希望大家可以开启一段美好的人生新篇章。当有一天，我们再次重逢，可以骄傲自信的说“原来你也是西浦毕业的学生！”谢谢。

Graduate representative's address- Yuxin Dai, School of Science

Good morning, faculty, staff, family and fellow graduates,

I am Yuxin Dai, from Applied Mathematics.It is a great honor for me to participate in and speak at this graduation ceremony. Not only has XJTLU given me an extraordinary honour, but the days of nervous I've endured at the thought of giving this commencement address have made me lose weight.

First of all, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the university for holding this graduation ceremony for us. It is a pity that graduation ceremony at the University of Liverpool has been changed into online because of the epidemic. Therefore, let us cherish this precious opportunity to draw a perfect end to our jounery at XJTLU and let us have more good time to bear in mind.

I still remember four years ago we as freshmen just arrived at foundation building. I was surprised to find this university has no walls even gates. It also subverted my stereotype of the traditional university enclosed with walls. At that time, only the north campus was put into use. However, I have been so proud to witness that our university has expanded to the present north and south campus, and that our department has also turned into a stronger and more vibrant version in just four years, thanks to the hard work of everyone present.

The university is changing, so we are. One big change is that I've started losing my hair. You known, scarce hair is a symbol of mathematics students. Hope all our boys won't get bald! Just kidding!

Since I stepped into the Department of Mathematics, my university life had been tightly bound with L'Hpital, Taylor, and Cauchy.

Looking back on that time, I remember having to get up early to grab a seat in the library while preparing for the final exam and endless quizzes for analysis all night. This vigorous learning atmosphere shows who we are as XJTLUers. However, I still had an unforgettable and wonderful time here. l remember the romantic feelings in our student days, the eyes of the boys who escorted their girlfriends to the dormitory under A03. I also miss the days buying a Hokkaido toast at C-Store before lectures and pigging out at the Wencui after deadline. Of course, these are sweet memories.

After two years at XJTLU, some of us chose to study in UK. The wind is stronger in Liverpool than in Suzhou and this indeed accelerated my hair loss process! During my study abroad, my knowledge has been further accumulated and my way of thinking better trained as well because of the cultural collision.

After these four years, I have gained a lot, we all do. Not only in age, but also in academic qulifications, enhanced interpersonal communication skills, mature way of thinking, a diverse perspective and so much more. Just as our university motto says, “Light and Wings”. The Chinese version of it is 博学明道笃行任事，meaning “to learn extensively and comprehend the facts,to practice earnestly and take responsibility”. Light to see, wings to fly. Let us continue to uphold the spirit of XJTLU after graduation.

My fellow graduates, four years ago, we made the right choice to come to XJTLU. The company of each other has made the journey no longer lonely, and we have also harvested friendship. Now, four years have passed and at the time of graduation, I am sure we have now possessed the courage and ability to face future challenges. Once again, we are making our choice. No matter what we decide to do and where we decide to go, I sincerely hope we can start the next page of our life well. And when we reunion someday, we could say to each other happily and proudly, “How nice! You are also a graduate of XJTLU!” Thank you very much!
