where else和what other places区别

1. 问：句①和句②中的else与other同为"别的"、"其他的"意思，用法有何区别?

答：作为形容词，二者都用作定语。else一般用来修饰不定代词(something, nothing, somebody, anyone等)或疑问代词(who, what等), 且必须放在这些词之后。other用来修饰名词，位于名词之前。另外，else还可用作副词，放在疑问副词(when ,where)后。

2. 问：句③中的other前面为什么加了定冠词the?

答：the other表示某一范围内除去一部分后其余的部分，如one ... the other ...句型中，the other表示的是两者 中的另外一个。而other表示除去一部分后，别的或另外的，但不是剩余的部分。
